The limescale has penetrated deeply into the stone and has damaged the polish of the surface. Removing these deposits without further damaging the surface is impossible. The surface can, however, be touched up, so the unsightly stains no longer show as prominently. Mechanically remove the surface deposit with a white pad and Lithofin MN Power-Clean. A shadow or a dull spot will remain visible. Protect the surface with Lithofin MN Stain-Stop and regularly apply Lithofin MN Polish Cream.
At first glance, natural stone surfaces look dense and robust. However, the stone contains pores and capillaries, which allow dirt to penetrate the surface.
A protective treatment like Lithofin MN Stain-Stop (or Lithofin STAINSTOP >W<) makes the surface resistant to oil, grease and water borne dirt. Dirt does no longer penetrate the stone and is therefore simple to remove.
The protective treatment in combination with the right maintenance program will prevent staining. We recommend Lithofin MN Easy-Clean for daily cleaning.
Apply Lithofin WAX-OFF undiluted and allow it to work for 5-10 minutes. Add some water, brush, and then remove the product. Rinse thoroughly with clear water. You may have to repeat this procedure.
In case of stubborn, deep-seated stains apply Lithofin OIL-EX in a 2 mm thick layer to the dry surface and cover it with some foil. Remove the foil after about 12 hours and brush off the white powder after one more hour.
Wet the surface with water, then apply Lithofin MN Builder's Clean and allow it to work for about one hour. Add some water, brush, and then remove the product. Rinse thoroughly with clear water. In case of stubborn staining repeat this process.
Note: Some granites are pre-treated with products that may not be resistant to an acidic cleaner. Please test the product’s suitability prior to use. Discolorations resulting from plants look similar to rust and can be removed with Lithofin MN Outdoor Cleaner.
