Effortlessly remove mould and mildew stains

Professional solution for your home

Mould and its spores are almost always present in the air. In low concentrations, these spores are harmless to humans.

However, high concentrations are harmful to health and trigger allergic reactions. Throat and nose irritation, coughing, headaches and fatigue are some of the symptoms associated with excessive spore exposure.

Proper ventilation of indoor spaces

Why proper ventilation is so important

Humidity inevitably arises from breathing, showering, cooking and more. If it is permanently too high in the room, it provides the ideal breeding ground for mould. It is therefore necessary to ventilate sufficiently to ensure a pleasant indoor climate. For a complete air exchange, it is advisable to ventilate intensively for 5 to10 minutes several times a day and to refrain from permanently tilting the windows.

Modernised flats and houses must be ventilated consistently and sufficiently, especially after the installation of plastic windows or thermal insulation, as the humidity increases when the house is “sealed”.

Mould spores particularly like to thrive in bathrooms and kitchens,
as they find ideal growing conditions there. The factors of heat, humidity and nutrients are sufficiently present in these areas. Especially with insufficient ventilation, mould forms on silicone, but also in absorbent cementitious joints and on tiles. This infestation not only looks unsightly, but should also be thoroughly removed due to health concerns.

Mould in living areas

The correct heating is essential

In view of rising energy costs, care should also be taken to ensure that the indoor temperature is around 16 to 18°C (bedrooms) or higher (20 to 21°C living rooms). The bathroom should always be taken into account and kept at the same temperature.

Heating rooms is important to prevent walls and building components from cooling down and thus prevent mould from forming. If the air is too cold, it cannot physically absorb moisture. If moist air condenses on cold walls, mould spores can accumulate there.

Remove mould right from the start

before it harms your health

In the early stages, the mould is relatively easy to remove from infested surfaces,
as it is still on the surface. To do this, spray the infested areas generously with
Lithofin KFMildew-Away * and rinse it off with water after 10 minutes. A brush or a hard sponge makes cleaning easier.

In the sanitary sector, you can use the product to remove black mildew stains from cement and silicone joints, tiles and plastic parts, as well as remove algae from masonry, concrete, natural stone and other mineral substrates. The product acts spontaneously and thanks to the preventive effect, it protects against new infestation for a long time.

* Please note: Use biocidal products carefully. Always read the label and product information before use.

In case of severe mould infestation: remove the joint

and repoint

In the case of severe infestation and silicone joints, cleaning alone is no longer sufficient.
The mold quickly comes back from below. In the case of silicone joints, the spores eat into the soft joints. Then there is only one thing that helps: remove the joint.
Cut these out with a box cutter or similar. Remove the grout residue with a special cleaner, such as Lithofin KF Silicone Remover. Spray the open joint well with Lithofin KF Mildew-Away *. This will destroy any spores that may be left behind. The treated area should dry for a few days, then you can insert the new joint.

* Please note: Use biocidal products carefully. Always read the label and product information before use.

Caution! Please note:

Avoid mixing cleaners. If chlorine-containing cleaners (e.g. Lithofin KF Mildew-Away) and acidic cleaners (e.g. Lithofin KF Ceramic-Clean but also vinegar or citric acid) are mixed, dangerous gases (chlorine) can be released, which should not be inhaled under any circumstances. The only thing that helps here is immediate and intensive ventilation of the room.

Do not use with other products as hazardous gases (chlorine) may be released.
